Artist Statement (September 2006)

As an artist, it is hard to articulate what it is that I do; it’s automatic.
Hmmmm….

Making art (whether good or bad) fills me.
I love materials.
It’s like Christmas every time I open the kiln.
My art serves as markers in my life. It’s like looking at a photograph.
Sometimes it’s cathartic. Sometimes it’s masturbatory.

To me, art encompasses all subjects of life and death.
Contrary to general opinion, I think it’s inclusive.
Art keeps the Ego in check.

It’s grounding.
It’s human.
It’s a piece of lint.
It’s a constant.
